Forestry Operations Manager – South Scotland

Forest Direct Ltd is a forestry consultancy business looking for an operations manager. We manage woodlands and private estates throughout the South of Scotland and north Northumberland.

You will lead on Forest Management supported by the company director, office manager and planning team. Work tasks include monitoring woodlands in the establishment phase, drawing up work programs, budgeting and providing quotations for our client’s approval. The successful applicant will direct our team of approved contractors carrying out woodland creation, restocking and maintenance operations to achieve high-quality work that will achieve successful establishment. Through your organisation skills, our clients will be aware of when work is being carried out and our contractors will have consistent work throughout the year. You will take a leading role in client communication, advising them on what work will need to be carried out.

Personal attributes:
• Confident in social situations when talking to clients and contractors
• Happy to attend training to keep your skills industry-leading
• Strong organisational skills
• Able to adapt to last-minute changes and think on your feet
• Passionate about the job

Professional attributes:
• 10+ years in the industry at a management level
• Comfortable with using GIS mapping software
• Good knowledge of the Forestry Grant Scheme
• Confident working on a computer and using Microsoft Office

Salary: dependent on experience: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum
